My Testimony

Hi! As you know by now, I am a Baptist pastor's daughter. So, from a young age, I was raised hearing the gospel and hearing about the only way I could go to Heaven when I died. So, for this post, I thought I would share with you my testimony of coming to know the Lord as my personal Savior. But this means I have to start from the very beginning!

Even before I was born, I was hearing about Jesus and how He died for our sins. I was born in Quebec, Canada in May of 2010, while my family was at language school learning French. You see, my family was called to the French West Indies as missionaries where my Dad was born and raised for the first part of his life. But, needing to know the language, they moved to Canada temporarily to learn French. And then, I was born!

After a little while, we finally moved to the French West Indies, where we served for 2 and a half years and were able to reach 3 quarters of the island with the gospel. My family had the wonderful opportunity to lead 5 people there to the Lord. Was it worth it? Absolutely!

But then my Mom got really sick and through the scariness of the doctors considering cancer and watching her health deteriorate, we moved back to the States permanently so she could get the care she needed. Though it wasn't cancer, the doctor's, (after some time,) realized she had MG, Myasthenia Gravis. Though it all, though, our family was led to plant a church in High Springs, Florida, where God has blessed us with starting Victory Springs Independent Baptist Church when I was 4.

When I was 5, I made a profession of faith. But it wasn't real and I didn't understand. I was confused at the time, but when my Dad announced in church later that I had gotten saved, I liked the attention. As I grew older, I knew I wasn't saved. I knew I hadn't really accepted Jesus into my heart and made Him my personal Savior. I battled that as I grew older! I mean, what would the church people think? I was the pastor's daughter, after all! What would my family think? That I had lied to them?

Finally, when I was 10, me, my dad, and my two brothers were riding home after visiting my Grammy's house a couple minutes away. Suddenly, Silas said: "Hey, why don't we go around giving our testimonies of when we got saved?" Well, immediately I began sweating. When my turn came, I blurted out, "I just don't know!" By that time, we were in my family's driveway.

Dad led me inside and to his bedroom, where Mom was sitting. It was there I prayed to the Lord and told Him that I knew I was a sinner, and because He is a holy God, sin cannot be let into His presence. I thanked Him for sending His Son, Jesus, to die on a cross for my sins, to make a way for us to live with Him in Heaven when we die. It was there on that bed that I asked Jesus into my heart and to take me to Heaven when I die. I asked Him to be my Savior. While it may not have been the most eloquent prayer, I meant it. And at that moment, I knew angels were rejoicing in Heaven!

I didn't experience some weird feeling when I got saved, because that's not how it works. I knew that I meant that prayer, and because I know I truly got saved, I have a home in Heaven for eternity. Nothing can ever change that!

I am so thankful for that day! If you haven't excepted Christ as your Savior, please do not wait. It is too important a decision to put off!

As Romans 10:13 says: "For whosever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

Have a great rest of your day!
